At approximately 2:05 PM, the Sandwich Police and Fire Department responded to the intersection of Quaker Meetinghouse Road and Service Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash.

The accident occurred when Vehicle One, operated by 50 year-old Kelly Socha of Plymouth, was travelling northbound on Quaker Meetinghouse Road through the intersection of the Service Road. Vehicle Two, operated by 85 year-old Elizabeth Karandy of East Sandwich, attempted to cross the intersection travelling west. While attempting to cross the intersection, Ms. Karandy pulled in front of the vehicle operated Ms. Socha.

Ms. Socha was transported to South Shore Hospital. Ms. Karandy was transported to Cape Cod Hospital. A passenger in Ms. Socha’s vehicle was transported to Beth Israel in Plymouth.

As a result of the investigation, Ms. Karandy was cited for failing to grant the right of way at an intersection. The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office and Bourne Fire Department assisted with Crash. At the time of this release, Ms. Socha was listed in stable condition.
