As the result of a month long investigation, on February 20, 2015 at approximately 8:45 pm the Sandwich Police stopped a vehicle owned and operated by Shane Barretto.  The vehicle was stopped in Sandwich as it returned from a brief trip to New Bedford. Along with Shane Barretto a passenger, Ian Burnett, from Sandwich was also in the vehicle.  The police located approximately 28 grams of cocaine inside Burnett’s underwear.  Both Barretto and Burnett were arrested at the scene on drug charges and transported to SPD for booking.

After their arrest the police executed a search warrant at Shane Barretto’s home at 45 Freeman Avenue in Sandwich.  During the search of the home, the police located and seized $17,300 cash, a 38 revolver handgun, a 45 semi-automatic handgun, over 16 ounces in psilocybin mushrooms, over 28 grams of MDMA (molly), over 14 ounces in marijuana, 241 grams in butane infused hash oil, along with drug packaging material and a surveillance system.

Ian Burnett was denied bail and is currently being held at the Barnstable Correctional Facility. Shane Barretto was bailed on $5000.00 cash.  Both will be arraigned on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Barnstable District Court.
