The latest public safety site plan has been prepared by the architecture firm, KBA, which is involved with the project. The site plan includes a downsized police facility and a fire sub-station from the project which was previously presented to the voters several years ago. Currently, the police department has 45 full-time and 60 total employees working out of a building built for 9 employees. With a significantly outdated cellblock and technology issues a concern, this updated project will be a true improvement to police and fire operations. This plan will also improve response times to residents in East and South Sandwich by having 3 staffed fire stations within town.
