Sandwich Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 6A in the area of Shady Nook Motel. Upon arrival, it was found to be a head on collision with both vehicles still in the roadway. Route 6A was closed in both directions. In the preliminary investigation it appears the vehicle heading East on Route 6A crossed into the west bound lane causing the collision.
The Jaws of life had to be used to extricate the operators. Both operators were transported to South Shore Hospital with serious injuries. The accident remains under investigation by Sandwich Police Department.
