For immediate release:  Today October 14, 2014, the Sandwich Fire Department received a telephone of a reported bomb threat at the Sandwich High School.  Units from the Sandwich Fire and Police Departments quickly responded.  As both departments take these threats very seriously, the Massachusetts State Police was contacted to provide assistance.  In the best interest of the safety of the students, the decision was made to dismiss students at 1400 hrs. Police Chief Peter Wack, Fire Chief William Carrico and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Richard Canfield worked through the incident in a Unified Command structure making student and staff safety the top priority. The building was searched and cleared of any suspicious items at 1530 hrs and decision was made to close the building for the remainder of the evening and school will reopen as scheduled tomorrow morning.
